The God of the Woods (Liz Moore) – A girl goes missing at a summer camp. That was the hook that prompted me to get this novel. The superb writing; the compelling, deeply drawn characters; the twisty, perspective-/time-shifting, instantly-grabbed-me-then-held-on-to-me-and-kept-me-guessing-to-the-very-end narrative is what required me to inhale this almost-six-hundred-page mystery in only a few days.
Night Call (Kanopy) – A locksmith gets a call to let a woman into what she says is her apartment. That’s the inciting incident that sets off this terrific, intensely kinetic French thriller, the entirety of which unfolds over the course of a single night in Brussels.
